Job Description

The Benefits and Store Compensation Manager primary focus is to manage and administer the Festival health, welfare and wellness benefit plans and the administration of compensation programs for Stores.  Ths individual serves as the subject matter expert and point-of-contact for all Festival Foods’ candidates and associates for all health and welfare plans, including wellness and for all store leadership for compensation.




Health and Welfare Plans

  • Develops, implements, administers, and maintains Festival health and welfare programs, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures health and welfare benefits are administered in accordance with plan document and legal compliance, including timely updates to changing regulations or plan provisions
  • Completes all required benefit plan compliance such as ACA reporting, 5500, PCORI and others
  • Serves as primary contact for HR Managers, and acts as advocate for associates and retirees relating to health, welfare and wellness plans questions
  • Develops strong relationships with benefits consultant, vendors and insurance carriers to ensure service and quality meet performance expectations
  • Supports all acquisition and new store openings to educate and enroll associates in benefits and ensures enrollment meets anyl legal contractual requirements
  • Creates communication materials to promote value of Festival health and wellness plans
  • Manages benefit annual enrollment process to ensure positive associate experience
  • Trains HR Managers, teammates and other associates on benefit plans and programs
  • Leadership of Benefits Intern role, ensuring accuracy and growth of individual
  • Evaluates how to best use current HRIS technology for benefits programs and implements necessary changes through collaboration with HRIS Manager and HRIS vendor
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Provides guidance to HR Managers, Store Directors and other store leaders to create job descriptions, make pay decisions, new hire offers, and ensure pay equity
  • Administers the store bonus plans and the annual store merit review processes, working closely with the Retirement Plans and Compensation Manager
  • Participates in the job evaluation team process ensuring quality and timely grading of jobs
  • Evaluates how to best use current HRIS technology for compensation programs and implements necessary changes through collaboration with HRIS Manager and HRIS vendor
  • Creates reports to accurately forecast and report compensation and benefit costs
  • Performs regular audits of Total Rewards HRIS data to ensure accuracy in reporting and pay to associates
  • Other duties as assigned


Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.  Minimum of five years of experience with demonstrated progression in responsibility and a track record of results in benefits and compensation.  HR Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), PHR or other certified benefit or compensation professional credentials preferred.

  • Knowledge of statutory and legal requirements related to benefitsand compensation
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data
  • Excellent computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including HRIS software and Excel. Experience with UKG HR information system preferred
  • Highly organized- excellent attention to detail and accuracy related to data, problem solving and decision making
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Continuous improvement and change management skills



Supervisory Relationships:

  • Directly reports to the Benefits and Compensation Director
  • Leads the Benefit Intern role


Organization Relationships:

  • Daily contact with all levels of Store management to provide benefit and compensation guidance and interpretation
  • Frequent contact with Human Resources associates, and management to gain information, work on joint projects and utilize expertise


External Business Relationships:

  • Frequent contact with Benefit carriers, vendors and outside broker/consultant



Sitting or standing at a computer 90% of the time

Bending, stretching, and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. is required

Professional presence and proper phone etiquette are required



TheBenefits and Compensation Manager is a full-time, salaried position.
