Reports To: Workplace Safety Manager
Location: Green Bay Support Office

 

Position Summary:

The Workplace Safety Specialist is a critical role aimed at enhancing associate and guest safety across all Festival Foods locations. Reporting to the Workplace Safety Manager, this position is integral to developing, implementing, and supporting comprehensive safety programs. The role focuses on minimizing the risk of workplace injury and illness, effectively managing claims, and fostering a safety culture through proactive engagement and behavioral change.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive workplace safety program, ensuring alignment with company standards and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including specific adherence to Wisconsin Worker’s Compensation Act requirements.
  • Partner with the Claims Sr. Specialist to manage and document claims accurately, facilitating swift and effective return-to-work processes.
  • Assist in maintaining OSHA records (300 and 300A logs), ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Promote store compliance with existing workplace safety programs including monthly safety meetings, safety walks, and continuous education on safety practices.
  • Serve as a contact for store leadership on matters related to workplace safety and claims management, providing guidance and support to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Engage in the development of safety-related content, including meeting materials, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), that reflect Festival Foods' commitment to safety.
  • Support the Powered Industrial Truck program and ensure its compliance across all locations.
  • Respond to emergent workplace safety-related manners as business needs.

 

  • Requires periodic travel to stores and the Onalaska Support Office to support safety and claims programs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in managing and accessing protected data, such as employee health information, in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and organizational privacy policies. This role requires a vigilant approach to data security and a commitment to ethical handling of all confidential materials to safeguard employee privacy and company integrity.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by Workplace Safety Manager

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
  • Certification or willingness to become OSHA 30 certified within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety programs, with a willingness to pursue ongoing education in occupational health and safety.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills, with the ability to work sensitively and confidentially.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and use other software as required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional bending, stretching, and lifting of up to 30 lbs. may be required.
  • The role is based in the Green Bay Support Office with periodic travel to other locations.

Work Schedule:

The role may require occasional weekend work and travel as needed to support various safety initiatives and respond to emergent issues.
