Job Summary

Job Title:             Asset Protection Specialist

Reports To:         Market Asset Protection Manager

 

 

Reporting to the Market Asset Protection Manager, this position is accountable for researching and resolving problems contributing to issues in areas of theft, receiving, safety, and shrink to further optimize the success and profitability of Festival Foods. This position is further responsible to inspire, train, and guide Store Associates through adherence to company best practices, policies, and procedures.

 

 

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct and resolve investigations into theft, fraud, and other criminal activities involving both internal and external individuals, using surveillance tools like cameras, exception-based reporting systems, and open-source intelligence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent theft and fraud, including tactical plans to mitigate emerging trends in organized retail crime (ORC).
  • Conduct surveillance on individuals suspected of external theft, both remotely and in-store, to support investigative goals.
  • Identify, apprehend, and support the prosecution of individuals involved in shoplifting and ORC, collaborating closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement.
  • Maintain effective relationships with law enforcement, as well as internal and external asset protection teams, and present casework as needed to facilitate arrests and prosecutions.
  • Participate in law enforcement networking meetings, including attendance at Organized Retail Crime Association (ORCA) meetings, gather intelligence, and proactively address potential risks within the assigned area(s).
  • Conduct audits to identify external and internal theft risks, and respond to third-party system alerts and notifications to proactively address potential theft issues.
  • Educate store associates and Asset Protection team members on theft awareness, prevention, and response strategies.
  • Document and maintain records, evidence, and reports in compliance with company policy and local legal standards, ensuring information accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Analyze and summarize data to provide actionable insights that support Asset Protection and Operations Leadership in making strategic decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Business, Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • 1-3 years of experience in asset protection, loss prevention, security, or investigations preferred.
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques, legal procedures, and asset protection best practices.
  • Proficient in relevant investigative tools and software, including case management systems, video surveillance, and data analytics platforms.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to present findings clearly.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple investigations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays.
  • Willingness to complete training in asset protection, safety, and leadership.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Professional presence required; ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to travel between stores and to events (approximately 10% travel), including occasional overnight stays.
  • Lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required occasionally.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-time, typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility for weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays as needed in a retail environment.
  • Based out of the De Pere Support Office.
